ISO 45001 follows the same Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) model as other ISO management system standards. The standard requires organizations to identify, assess, and control their occupational health and safety risks and to establish objectives and plans to achieve them. The standard places a particular emphasis on the context of the organization, leadership commitment, worker participation, and the involvement of interested parties.
ISO 45001 is designed to be compatible with other management systems, such as ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and can be easily integrated with these systems. - Planning: This clause requires the organization to identify and assess occupational health and safety risks and opportunities and to develop plans to address them.
- Support: This clause requires the organization to provide the resources and support necessary to implement and maintain the occupational health and safety management system.
- Operation: This clause requires the organization to implement the occupational health and safety management system and to monitor, measure, and improve its effectiveness.

In the Do stage, the organization implements the plan and carries out the activities required to achieve the objectives and targets, such as providing resources, training workers, and establishing procedures.
In the Check stage, the organization monitors and measures the performance of the occupational health and safety management system, evaluates its effectiveness, and identifies areas for improvement.
In the Act stage, the organization takes action to improve the performance of the occupational health and safety management system based on the results of the Check stage, such as implementing corrective actions and making changes to the plan.
By following the PDCA model and the clauses of ISO 45001, organizations can establish and maintain an effective occupational health and safety management system, and continually improve its performance.
